Our Collaborative Methodology
Designing together - we start each project with a relationship in mind, we ask lots of questions so we can get a sense of what you want out of a van, how you plan to use it, the duration of anticipated trips, and what types of outdoor activities you delve into. We want to understand how this van will enable your dream adventures.
Guided component selection and ordering - once we have a good sense of what type of van we will be building, we will work closely with you to select the right parts and help you order each component. Most clients choose to ship all materials directly to us prior to starting the build.
Planning - we will develop a detailed build plan, create the layout drawings and define a schedule with you. We will plan the dates you will be joining us for your build and help with the local logistics if you travel to Seattle.
Co-building your van - here is a typical collaborative build, each step of the way is an opportunity to learn
Prepare the vehicle - disassemble the interior down to the shell
Window/Flare/Fan installation - cut penetrations and install components
Exterior penetrations - to run solar and roof lighting, sidelights, and through-floor for electric or heating
Sound deadening and insulation - complete sound deadening, ceiling and wall insulation, floor thermal barrier
Rough-in wiring and plumbing - run wiring for lights, speakers, pumps, fans, fridge
Install flooring - insulated panels, vinyl/wood flooring, reinstall seating tracks as needed
Install interior panels - install structural framing and interior wall and ceiling panels
Build custom interior modules - battery/electric components, water/plumbing system, kitchen cabinets/drawers
Install modules and components (electric, water/shower, kitchen, fridge, seating, storage)
Electric/Plumbing - connect and test each circuit, and run plumbing to ensure each component is operational
Finishing details - putting the final details together to complete the build.
